Gaming Glove OS: Finally here after all this time.

Hello there! I know at least three of the people looking at this have been waiting for a VERY long time for this to come out, so I'll cut to the chase: The Gaming Glove is done! And it is open source so you can build it yourself if you want to!

Before I get into how to build it I want to answer a few questions.

Q1: Will it improve my aim?

A: It improved mine, so I'd say yes, but you will have to use it for around a week before you even get to being as good as you were on mouse. After that you'll get a bit better. Although realistically I'd give it two weeks. And at least a month before you actually start to improve your aim.

Q2: Do you have any evidence to back up your claims?

A: lol no. Me saying it makes me aim better is purely based on what I "felt" like.
And boy does it feel great. In my opinion it has improved my aim by 20-40%. But it doesn't just feel great psychologically. I no longer have problems with pain/cramping in my aim hand. I am mostly certain I had started to develop some symptoms of carpel tunnel, and all of them have disappeared.
I no longer use a mouse for gaming unless I am playing very casually, or I absolutely have too.

Q3: I do not have a printer/my printer turned evil, ate my dog and is now locked in the basement were I feed it sacrifices in hopes it doesn't eat me next. Can you make a glove for me?

A: Yes I can! For a fee of course. These things are pretty hard and not cheap to make. Luckily for you, if you decide to buy one directly from the master craftsman himself, it's only not cheap. Just give me your hand size, and any other options you want along with $200 bucks, and I'll mail you a glove. (Free shipping unless you live in some godforsaken hellhole like Australia.)

Q4: Will there be any more updates to the glove?

A: Despite having made literally hundreds of versions of individual components, there are still things that could be made better, so yes, updates will still happen, just slower now. I do have plans to make a less radically dressed version, and I want to make sure I make at least one change to the glove every time one is purchased just to make sure there is a constant flow of improvement.
If you want to apply some changes yourself, feel free! This whole thing is open source so anyone can make contributions! All the contributions will be proudly displayed on this blog as they come out.

Q7: Your glove is ugly and hard to modify. Do you have a better looking version, or a version that would be easy to modify?

A: First off, hurtful. Second, yes! At least that is the plan. I am going to redesign the glove again, so that there is a cheaper, easier to modify version available. And, unlike the current iteration which cannot be sold by anyone else due to copywrite restrictions, the new simplified version will have a much more open copywrite, that will let you literally do whatever you want with it.

Q6: How much does it cost to build it myself?

A: Well, now that we are getting into it, lets just move this whole thing right along to Part II:

HOW TO BUILD THE GLOVE:

Once you got all the tools and parts, get the files:

Files Total Cost $0.00

(Prices do not include shipping or taxes) (You'll also notice that none of the links are too Amazon. This is because Amazon is a garbage company and can suck my dick)

Once you have everything on that list, print all the parts out, clean them, and cure most of them. The two parts you are not going to cure are the pointing finger cap, and top of the sensor basket. The pointy finger cap can be differentiated from the other finger caps because it has two posts sticking out the sides of it.
Slide the posts into the two adjacent holes on the sensor basket pillars, then slide the tiny bearings into both sides at the same time. I would recommend getting a plate are something to help you push the bearings into place. Once that is completed, you may then set the apparatus out to cure.

Okay I am getting really bored of writing this really fast, so here are the program files for the Teensy 2.0: PMW3360_Arduino/README.md at master · SunjunKim/PMW3360_Arduino · GitHub

And here are the ones for if you decide to do a Atmega32u4 build (Arduino Pro Micro): Open source, DIY PMW3360 Gaming Mouse on Arduino (geekhack.org)

You should be able to figure everything out from here, I will update this later to be more specific.

  1. Hello, how are things? Are you still on it? I have been looking for alternatives for the sensor with board, because the one you recommend is no longer available on JACK Enterprises.

    1. Hi! Thanks for the comment, the boards are technically still for sale in the same configuration, just from a new seller.
You can get them here: https://www.tindie.com/products/citizenjoe/pmw3360-motion-sensor/
